The aim of the Winter Training is develop and improve the sailors boat skills, experience and confidence such that they can progress through the IOCA Regatta and Main fleets the following Spring and Summer. Sailors will be assessed and placed into groups dependent on experience, ability as well as other factors to ensure that the groups provide the best training for all sailors. As a practical minimum children taking part must have their own boat and be able to comfortably sail a triangular course in a range of conditions and be willing to race on the water. More advanced sailors, will be taught the methods, skills and tactics necessary to take them to the next level when competing against their peers in open events and then challenge for a place in the Regional Training Groups the following Autumn.
You must be a member of IOCA to enter, and you will be asked to provide your membership number during checkout. If you are not yet a member, click here to join. New members joining for this training will be covered for the rest of 2021 and 2022. Payment is for the full 6 days. If the training programme is reduced due to COVID related restrictions then IOCA aim to refund entry fees less an allowance for any fixed costs incurred. Priority is given based on date of payment, not on date the order is placed. Any entry not paid for within 7 days of entry will be cancelled. IOCA South training is usually oversubscribed, so please make your payment promptly to guarantee your sailor's place.
If demand outstrips places available we reserve the right to refund payment and cancel the training place for any sailor who accepts a Regional Training Group space this winter.
