ILCA UK National Training - ILCA 4, 6 and 7
You must be an ILCA UK Member to participate in this event (Membership info and how to join). Places are limited, with a waiting list available. Additional coaches and groups can be added, so please join the waiting list early if the session is full. A minimum of six sailors is required for each group to run.
We encourage sailors to view the National Training at WPNSA as a series of training weekends and, once eligible, attend as many as possible for continuity of coaching. They will run from November 2026 to March 2027.
National Training is intended to benefit the more experienced ILCA sailor, in the top half of the male or female fleets, any age. Training is delivered by highly experienced and technical ILCA National level coaches. Eligibility criteria is outlined below.
Regional Open Training will also be made available over the same period, which is open to all abilities.
ILCA UK National Training How It Works To qualify for National Training, sailors must:
- achieve a TOP 50% male or TOP 50% female event result in at least 3 of the 5 following 2026 National Open events in the rig you intend to train in over the Winter season.
- ILCA UK Nationals 22-28 Jul 26 WPNSA
- National Open 4 26-27 Sep 26 East Lothian
- National Open 5 17-18 Oct 26 WPNSA
- National Open 6 24-25 Oct 26 WPNSA
- National Inland Championships 31 Oct - 1Nov 26 Grafham
- If any of the above National Open events are cancelled, the requirement will be adjusted to 2 out of the remaining events.
Important to know:
- Meeting these criteria makes a sailor eligible to book a place; places are then offered on a first-come, first-served basis, depending on venue capacity, rib and coach availability.
- If the event is full, please join the waiting list we always aim to include as many eligible sailors as possible.
- If you have a valid reason for missing one of the National Open events listed above, you must submit a redress request in accordance with our policy by emailing scorer@ilca.uk before the event start date. This will allow average points to be awarded for the missed event. Requests received after the event has started will not be considered.
- If you book a place but do not meet the eligibility criteria, your booking will be cancelled and refunded, minus a £5 administration fee.
